August 19, 2016 04:57 pm | Updated 11:56 pm IST - RAIPUR:

Nine people, said to be the sympathisers of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist), surrendered to the police in restive Kondagoan district of south Chhattisgarh on Friday.

According to Kondagaon district Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh, all nine surrendered Maoist supporters had warrants issued against them for serious offences of Maoist violence.

The surrendered Maoist supporters include Shanti Retma, Sanjay Yadav, Bharat Mansay, Fuldhar Kande, Sanjay Halami, Lachchuram Yadav, Gagara Netam, Kunti Netam and Sukhdev Pakhalu.

“They were active in Kondagaon and Kanker district of south Chhattisgarh. This is another big success for the anti-Maoist campaign which is currently underway in Bastar,” Mr. Singh said.
