Modi, Shah to address party workers on Tuesday

A day before the scheduled visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah will address party workers in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

The two will arrive in the city on Tuesday.

This will be Mr. Modi’s first visit to his home State after taking charge as Prime Minister.

“It will be a big programme of nearly 20,000 people, comprising elected members and office bearers. Since this is Mr. Modi’s first visit as PM, the party will give him a grand welcome,” Vijay Rupani, BJP’s State general secretary, told The Hindu .

The felicitation programme will be held at Trimandir in Gandhinagar. Tuesday is also the eve of Mr. Modi’s birthday. Mr. Modi, Mr. Shah, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and other leaders will address the gathering.
