Maoists kill five villagers in Ranchi district

September 07, 2009 11:46 am | Updated December 17, 2016 03:59 am IST - Ranchi:

Maoists have shot dead five villagers, including two students, at Pundigiri, about 60 km. from here, police said on Monday.

A dozen armed Maoists went to the village on Sunday night and shot them dead, Deputy Inspector General of Police, R.K. Mullick said.

This is the second attack by the Maoists in the same area in the last 11 days, which, he said, reflected the frustration of the rebels.

On August 27, the Maoists had killed four villagers, including a little girl, at Bundu, near Pundigiri.
