Janata Dal (Secular) president, H.D. Deve Gowda on Tuesday hit out at the BJP for attacking the Congress vis-à-vis Bofors, saying that party had no right to talk about others when its own Chief Minister in Karnataka B.S. Yeddyurappa was indulging in land scams and minting crores.
Talking to journalists here after inaugurating a new central office of the party, the former Prime Minister said the BJP should look inward before commenting on others. It must act against Mr. Yeddyurappa, who was facing so many corruption charges.
“It is for the first time in 60 years of politics I have come across a Chief Minister facing a slew of charges ranging from corruption to nepotism,” Mr. Gowda said.
On the zilla and taluk panchayat poll results in Karnataka, he said an analysis of the voting pattern would prove a fall in the BJP's position and strength. This was despite the party “misusing power and liberally giving freebies to voters.”
Plenary in Bangalore
JD(S) Secretary-General Danish Ali said the party would hold its plenary in Bangalore on January 19 and 20 to discuss the current political situation in the country and the future course of action. The election to the post of party's national president would be held on February 20 in Bangalore.
