The BJP said that the decision of the Supreme Court to uphold the trial court's decision to convict AIADMK general secretary V.K. Sasikala will change politics in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to The Hindu from Agartala, party general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao said that the decision of the court has been finally delivered. “This will have deep ramifications for the politics of Tamil Nadu in the days to come,” he said.

“AIADMK is in a crisis and is facing a test on just what kind of leadership it will project. It will not be easy for Ms. Sasikala to put forward a 'yes' man as Jayalalithaa did when she was convicted since she doesn’t enjoy an unchallenged leadership role or even popularity among the masses like the late Chief Minister,” he said.

Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu tweeted that the "need of the hour is to enable an able and stable government in Tamil Nadu as per the wishes of the people of State."
