Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday said the talks between the committee constituted by the State government and representatives of the Jat community were not ‘fruitless and would be continued.’
With their agitation entering the 14th day, Jat leaders, who are seeking quotas in education and government jobs, among other demands, met members of the State government-constituted committee and held discussions on their demands and “grievances” in Panipat.
“All points raised by the Jat representatives have been heard. The negotiations would continue in the second round and all points would be discussed,” the Chief Minister said, at Rai in district Sonepat. The Haryana government has constituted a five-member committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to hold talks with Jats on the issue of reservation and their other demands.
Pro-Jat reservation outfits are holding protest in several parts of Haryana – under the banner of the All India Jat Arakshan Samiti (AIJASS) – and have accused the BJP Government in Haryana of not fulfilling their reservation demands.
