Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi has been summo-ned by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, along with the National Investigation Agency chief, for its meeting to be held on Monday to get an explanation on the Pathankot attack and what the government is doing in its aftermath.
Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi will be summoned by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, along with the National Investigation Agency chief, for its meetings to be held on Monday and later to get an explanation for the attack on the Pathankot airbase and what the government is doing in its aftermath.
If needed, the Defence Secretary too will be summoned. Congress MP P. Bhattacharya, who chairs the committee, said the Union Home Ministry had been intimated about the summons and the item was listed on the agenda of the meeting.
“The agenda paper has been sent to the government. Now it is their business to inform us,” Mr. Bhattacharya told The Hindu . “The Home Secretary has said that since the matter is under investigation by the NIA, it will not be possible to give a complete picture of the matter, but we still feel that the handling of the attack needs to be looked into.”
Mr. Bhattacharya said the government had not informed the panel about disinclination, if any, to discuss the issue at this stage.
