July 27, 2010 01:36 am | Updated 01:36 am IST - PANAJI:

All the three accused arrested by the police in connection with the unnatural death of Utkarsh Parab (16), a school girl from Valpoi town of north Goa, were remanded to seven-day police custody by a local Judicial Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Snehal Gaonkar, who was arrested on Friday for alleged kidnapping of the deceased, got further remand of 7 days as her two days of police remand expired on Monday. Her parents, Santosh Raut and Sumedha Raut, were booked by the police and arrested in connection with same case on Sunday.

The accused are facing charges of murder of the school girl by poisoning her under Sections 302 and 328 of the Indian Penal Code.

The girl, who was released by the police from her kidnappers based on missing complaint lodged by her father, later died at the Goa Medical College hospital on Sunday. Though her autopsy report has been withheld by the hospital, her medical examination prior to her death had revealed that the girl was poisoned through food during her confinement.

According to Valpoi police, the incident took place on July 16, when the accused allegedly picked up her niece from her school at Poriem-Sattari (north Goa) and took her to an isolated place in Bicholim (north Goa) where she confined her to a room with the help of her parents. The girl was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition on Friday.
