Police on Sunday announced the arrest of five more persons in connection with the murder of Paul Muthoot George, the executive director of the Muthoot M. George Group, on August 22.

According to sources, three of the five arrested were nabbed a day after the murder. The trio helped the police trace 14 others who were arrested later, the sources added.

The five included two persons who are alleged to have been driving the Tempo Traveller vans rented by the 22-member gang linked to the case. The remaining three are facing charges of having helped the gang to go underground after the murder.

The five are identified as Sabeer, Faizal, Marzukh, Farooque and Riyaz. Riyaz is the brother of Mannancherry Abi, who is alleged to have hired the gang. The others are his cousins and the Tempo Travellers were from Mannancherry.

Abi and two other members of the gang are still at large.
