Court: Fernandes will stay with wife for now

July 05, 2010 04:09 pm | Updated November 28, 2021 09:21 pm IST - New Delhi

The former Union Minister, George Fernandes, who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease, on Monday failed to speak his mind in the Delhi High Court as to whom he wanted to stay with — his wife or brothers.

Rather he confused Justice V.K. Shali by expressing similar gestures while interacting with his wife, Leila Kabir, and his brothers in the Judge's chamber. While interacting with his wife, he clutched her hand to his chest without saying any word. When his brothers introduced themselves and asked something in Konkani, he said that they were six brothers.

From these two interactions, Justice Shali deduced that Mr. Fernandes looked happy with both parties.

Later, Justice Shali adjourned the matter to July 19 for further hearing without passing any order.

He said that Mr. Fernandes would continue to stay with his wife.
