Congress recalls ‘raj dharma’

The Congress on Wednesday welcomed the conferment of the Bharat Ratna on Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Madan Mohan Malaviya, who was president of the party for four terms.

Spokesman Shakeel Ahmad said: “We hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will follow his senior’s advice to practise ‘raj dharma.’ >After the Gujarat carnage of 2002, Mr. Vajpayee had advised Mr. Modi to practise ‘raj dharma. ’ Party general secretary Ajay Maken said he hoped the Modi government would keep it in mind. “..to a certain extent, both (men),” Mr. Maken added, “represent the Indian thought which is secular and tolerant…”
