A Delhi court on Monday awarded four years imprisonment each to two directors of the Jharkhand Ispat — R.C. Rungta and R.S. Rungta — in a coal block allocation scam case.

"Keeping in view the over all facts and circumstances of the case, coupled with the submissions made and the age of the convict persons, I am of the considered opinion that the interest of justice will be suitably met if both the convicted persons i.e. R.S. "As regard the offence u/s 120-B/420 IPC, I sentence both the convict persons R.S. Rungta and R.C. Rungta to rigorous imprisonment for a period of four (4) years each and to also pay a fine of Rs. 2,50,000/- (Rupees Two Lacs Fifty Thousand). It is however directed that the substantive period of sentences shall run concurrently," the order said.

"As regard the offences u/s 420 IPC and u/s 120-B/420 IPC, the company M/s Jharkhand Ispat Pvt. Ltd. (M/s JIPL) is sentenced to pay a fine of Rs. 25,00,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Lakhs)," the order further said
