Class X board exam to be optional for CBSE schools

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to make the Class X board examination optional for students who will continue in the same school for the senior secondary level.

Enough indications were given by Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal here on Monday while briefing journalists on the meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education. Asked whether a consensus had emerged on making the Class X examinations optional for CBSE schools, he said a broad agreement was reached at the meeting of the Council of Boards for School Education.
