Police got a copy from Shanti Bhushan

April 19, 2011 01:59 am | Updated November 17, 2021 02:55 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Delhi police have obtained a compact disc purportedly containing a fabricated telephone conversation between the former Law Minister and co-chairman of the joint committee to draft the Lokpal Bill, Shanti Bhushan, and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh and the former SP general secretary, Amar Singh. It has been sent for forensic examination. The police, who had planned to approach The Indian Express to get the CD, got a copy from Mr. Bhushan himself.

In a related development, Mr. Amar Singh submitted four CDs to the IP Estate police and lodged a complaint alleging that the CDs purportedly containing conversations between him and Mr. Mulayam Singh, which were being circulated, had been illegally tapped. “He [also] alleged that the conversations had been tampered with through editing and other means,” said a police officer, adding the contents of these CDs would also be probed.

In his complaint, Mr. Bhushan said a journalist from The Indian Express met him on April 13 and showed him a CD purportedly containing a telephone conversation among him, the SP chief and Mr. Amar Singh.
