The Central Bureau of Investigation submitted its status report in the Supreme Court in a sealed cover on Monday, giving details of the investigation conducted so far in the 2G spectrum case.
Senior counsel K.K. Venugopal, appearing for the CBI, presented the report before a Bench of Justice G.S. Singhvi and Justice A.K. Ganguly hearing the case. The development comes in the wake of the court asking what action the agency had taken against those involved in the scam and why it had not so far questioned the former Communications Minister, A. Raja.
Though the contents of the report were not divulged, sources said the CBI had put down in detail the investigation it had conducted from the time the FIR was registered. It said a thorough investigation was being done both at the national and international levels to trace the proceeds of the scam.
Asked whether Mr. Raja would be questioned, the sources said “the report addresses the concern of the court and was aimed at clearing this.”
Arguments on the petitions will resume on November 30.
