This is the third death of a BSF man along the Pakistan border in Jammu in the past one week.

A BSF jawan was killed and 10 civilians were injured as Pakistani Rangers stepped up ceasefire violations along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu region on Thursday. The BSF said it killed one Pakistani Ranger in “retaliatory fire.”

BSF head constable Jitender Kumar, who suffered grievous injuries in Pakistani shelling in R.S. Pora Sector’s Abdullian area, died on Thursday morning. There had been intermittent exchange of fire since Wednesday night.

The ten civilians were injured as the 192-km long IB witnessed heavy exchange of fire.

A BSF official said the BSF troops in R.S Pora and Arnia Sectors killed a Pakistani Ranger and injured another between 12.30 p.m. and 1.15 p.m.

A soldier was killed and another injured as the Army foiled an infiltration bid in Kupwara district on Thursday.

A Srinagar-based spokesman said the infiltration attempt was made in the Tangdhar Sector on the Line of Control.
