BJP MLA posts video lauding Una attack

BJP MLA from Goshamahal, Raja Singh sparked a controversy by uploading a video on Facebook supporting the cow vigilantes who brutally assaulted four Dalits in Una in Gujarat earlier this month.

In the two-and-a-half minute video, Mr. Singh is seen backing the actions of the ‘Gau Rakshaks’, and warning that anyone who kills a cow or consumes its meat will meet the same fate.

“I want to ask seculars, vote-seekers and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati why are they defaming Dalits? Many Dalit brothers work with me in protecting cows in Hyderabad and Telangana,” he said.

Soon after he is seen terming a section of Dalits “filthy” for slaughtering cows and consuming beef and bringing disgrace to the patriotic Dalits. Mr. Singh goes on to say that in the Una incident, the Dalits deserved the punishment and lauds the attackers for teaching them a lesson.

He appeals to the Gau Rakshaks to keep up the good work and continue to serve the nation and community this way. Mr. Singh says such incidents do happen if the status of cow has to be elevated to that of a mother. He issued a threat to people of all the communities to refrain from any activity that requires killing of cows.
