BJP Govt. in Karnataka a cesspool of corruption: Bardhan

December 30, 2009 03:07 pm | Updated 03:09 pm IST - Bangalore

Communist Party of India (CPI) general secretary A.B. Bardhan has described the BJP Government in Karnataka as a "stinking cesspool of corruption with a total lack of any moral authority" and predicted its fall "on account of its own omissions and commissions."

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday after the three-day national council meeting held here, Mr. Bardhan said that the Government was making a "desperate effort to prolong its life by yielding to demands of the mining mafia led by Bellary brothers."

Mr. Bardhan said that the Government was consistently taking anti-farmer positions, the latest among them being a lathicharge on agitating farmers from north Karnataka in front of Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday, who had suffered crop losses in the recent floods. The relief was given in a partisan manner, he added. "All this besides trying to communalise politics," he added.
