Attack will worsen misery: Mehbooba

September 19, 2016 12:32 am | Updated 12:32 am IST - Srinagar:

Condemning the deadly militant attack on an Army base in Uri, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said it was aimed at “triggering fresh violence and creating a war-like situation in the region.”

Expressing anguish over the death of the soldiers and paying rich tributes to them, Ms. Mufti said, “The heightened tension in the wake of the Uri attack is set to further vitiate the atmosphere in and around Jammu and Kashmir amid increasing Indo-Pakistan hostility.”

She said people in the State already mired in an agonising situation shall have to bear the brunt of the fresh attempts to step up violence and trigger more bloodshed in the State.

“J&K has always been the worst victim of India-Pakistan hostility and its people have been paying a colossal price for the same for the past over six decades.”

She said the perpetrators of violence must understand that violent methods would yield nothing.
