The Uttar Pradesh police on Monday arrested four more persons in connection with a video shot in Rampur, purporting to show a group of men sexually assaulting two women. The main accused, Shahnawaz, was arrested on Sunday.

The police have also decided to invoke the Goonda Act against the accused.

The four persons arrested on Monday have been identified as Saddam, Danish, Farman and Siraj alias Firoz. “Saddam, Danish and Farman were picked up near the old Swar bus station [in Rampur],” a police spokesperson said.

The police on Sunday booked 14 persons. The accused allegedly filmed the act and circulated the footage online.

After the undated video went viral on social media, the police filed an FIR at the Tanda station under Sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 354B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) of the Indian Penal Code. Section 66 of the Information Technology Act was also invoked.

The police have formed four teams to search for the remaining accused. They have been identified as Naved, Fazil, Babu, Bhura, Sarfaraz, Jahane Ali, Kasim, Rais and Nadeem.

Officials are also trying to locate the two victims as they are yet to come out and file a complaint.
