The Forensic Science Lab here played a vital role in cracking the case of serial bomb blasts in suburban trains in Mumbai. The 12 convicts in the case underwent a narco-analysis at the lab in November 2006, revealing the details of the terror plot.
Sources said that when the initial questioning of the prime accused, Faisal Sheikh, and Ehtesham Siddique, who had been picked up on suspicion after they were found celebrating and distributing sweets on Meera Road in Mumbai, did not reveal much, they were brought to the lab.
Based on the information, the police picked up 10 others, including Waheed, who later turned approver.
The test had been conducted by S. Malini, who headed the psychological division in Madiwala, which shut down two years ago.
ConfessionSources said that Faisal, during the narco-analysis, had confessed that he had undergone three levels of training by the Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan. A team of six LeT operatives had come to Mumbai in 2006 to execute the blasts.
Faisal said the training was so hard that he even underwent psychological tests to master the art of dodging investigations in case he was caught, sources added.
