The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has found that one of the planters of a bomb in the July 13 terror attack last year had joined a gymnasium in former gangster Arun Gawli's locality a month after the blast. “He had taken membership of the Gulabpurang Gawli medical fitness centre in Dagdi chawl for the months of August, September and October last year. We are verifying who introduced him to the gym,” Rakesh Maria, Director General of Police and ATS chief told reporters here on Friday.
It is believed that he is the same wanted accused whom Naquee Ahmed Wasi Ahmed Sheikh, who is currently in ATS custody, had introduced in another gym in the city's Kumbharwada area before the blasts.
Mr. Maria refused to name any of the two wanted accused who stayed in the city's Habib mansion, which has been sealed by the police. The police are yet to get the DNA analysis or forensic report of the material seized from the one-room tenement.
The wanted accused, who enrolled himself in the gym-cum-fitness centre, did not provide his photograph to the authorities in this gym as well.
“He had paid Rs. 3,700 of which Rs. 3,500 was the fees for three months and Rs. 200 was the admission charge,” Mr. Maria said. He, however, refused to give information about the documents that the wanted accused had submitted as identification proof.
Meanwhile, Taqi Ahmed, arrested suspect Naquee Ahmed's brother, did not present himself before the ATS authorities on Friday. “We had asked him to come today [Friday]. But he told us that he did not get train bookings. He also sent us a medical certificate saying he is unwell. We will give him a next date now,” Mr. Maria said.
