As many as 10 people lost vision in one eye after undergoing cataract surgery at a hospital in Chikhodra village near here.

Over a dozen people underwent cataract surgery between July 12 and July 16 at the Ravi Shankar Eye Hospital. On removal of bandages, 10 of them were found to have lost vision in one eye, said the Chief Health Officer of the area. Doctors at an Ahmedabad hospital, where the victims were sent, said infection during or after the surgery could be the reason.

A corrective surgery could restore the vision to about 50 per cent, doctors said.
