Mamata plunges into relief work

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday cancelled all her official programmes scheduled for Friday following the fire tragedy in the AMRI Hospitals here. She was to lay the foundation stone for the Aliah University Campus and the New Haj Tower Complex at Rajarhat New Town.

Later, she visited the government-owned SSKM hospital, where bodies from AMRI were being brought. Involving herself closely with the rescue and relief operations, she did not go the Secretariat. “My entire government is involved in this operation.”

Cancelled

Also cancelled was an interactive session on development of handicrafts, which was to be addressed by Manas Bhunia, Minister for Micro and Small-scale Enterprises and Textiles. FICCI FRAMES, called off its meet here. .

The American Centre sent its condolences to the bereaved families.
