Yogendra Yadav resigns from top AAP body

After its drubbing in the Lok Sabha polls, senior AAP leader Yogendra Yadav and party’s Haryana convenor Naveen Jaihind on Saturday tendered their resignations from the political affairs committee and national executive of the party respectively.

Party spokesperson and Delhi unit secretary Dilip Pandey clarified that the duo had resigned as members of the PAC and NE and not from the party.

Pankaj Gupta, party’s national secretary has said that the issue will be on the agenda of the national executive whenever it meets.

“@AapYogendra & .@naveenjaihind are still with @AamAadmiParty... and resignation given from PAC & NE resp. to be discussed in NE meeting,” Mr. Pandey tweeted.

Party sources said that both offered to resign after the clashes between the two came to the fore and Jaihind was also served a notice.

Mr. Yadav was the party’s Haryana in-charge. The psephologist-turned-politician and Mr. Jaihind unsuccessfully contested from Gurgaon and Rohtak respectively.

Mr. Yadav has also clarified that he has not quit from the party and the rumours are baseless.

“Rumours about my quitting AAP are baseless. I am very much with the party and committed to working for it harder than ever,” he tweeted.

However, when asked why he quit as the PAC member, he declined to comment on the issue.
