The Delhi police have given security to the Rajya Sabha member and expelled AIADMK leader, Sasikala Pushpa, after she alleged a threat to her life.

On August 1, she wrote to the Delhi police, seeking “complete protection” for her and her family members at her North Avenue residence.

Moves Delhi HC

On Thursday, she moved the Delhi High Court with an urgent plea for security. Her lawyer alleged that following her complaint to the Delhi police, only a single constable was being assigned to her during the daytime and four at night.

While senior police officers remained tight-lipped, sources said “adequate arrangements” had been made for the security of the MP and her family at their residence and for her travel to Parliament.

Ms. Sasikala Pushpa was expelled from the AIADMK after an altercation with DMK MP TiruchI Siva at the Delhi airport. Since then, she has alleged, she was being threatened into resigning from her post. As she did not wish to resign, she could face a threat to her life from her party members, she said. “Thus, I place this criminal complaint before DCP. So that I and my family may get complete protection with immediate effect,” she wrote in her letter to the Delhi police.

In court, she alleged that she had been receiving death threats on WhatsApp and requested security while going to the Rajya Sabha from her residence.
