Two French men who went missing while trekking along popular trails in the Himalayan foothills are being searched, police said on Sunday.

The hikers, aged 20 and 21, have not been seen since splitting off from a group including 30 other foreigners on Wednesday to take a different route in the State of Himachal Pradesh. Police say the two told their friends they would meet them the same evening.

Police have been searching the trails area near Dharamsala city since Saturday, but have yet to find any clues.

The French Embassy said on Sunday it has been in contact with the men’s families in France.
