‘U.S. claims successful ICBM tests’

The U.S. military said on Wednesday it had tested an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile equipped with reentry vehicle from a base in California across the Pacific Ocean.

The vehicle launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base travelled approximately 6,750 km across the Pacific Ocean to the Kwajalein Atoll, the Air Force said.

“The test demonstrates that the U.S.' nuclear deterrent is robust, flexible, ready to deter twenty-first century threats,” it said.
