The (incomplete) list of men in Hollywood accused of sexual harassment

The Harvey Weinstein saga has had a domino effect with more and more women coming out with their own sexual harassment stories.

The list of men in Hollywood who have been accused of misusing their power to receive sexual favours, harass their employees and co-workers is ever-growing. The Harvey Weinstein saga has had a domino effect on the industry with more and more women, many of them A-listers themselves, coming out with their own sexual harassment stories.

1. Harvey Weinstein

While rumours of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment had been doing the rounds for a long time, it wasn’t until The New York Times and The New Yorker reported on it recently were the allegations taken seriously. His victims include A-listers and upcoming actors, including Asia Argento, Rosanna Arquette, Kate Beckinsale, Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd, Rose McGowan, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Update: The New York Police have said that they may have a credible rape case against weinstein based on the complaint of Boardwalk Empire actor Paz de la Huerta.

2.Kevin Spacey

Star Trek actor Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey, a two-time Academy Award winner, had tried to force himself on the actor, then 14 years old, at a party. In a statement issued after the allegation was made, Spacey apologised for his behaviour and simultaneously came out as gay, a move that was denounced by many inside and outside Hollywood, for deflecting attention away from the sexual harassment charges.

Update: After Anthony Rapp's allegation, a number of actors came forward to accuse Spacey of sexual assault. Netflix announced that it has suspended production of House of Cards and Spacey has been dropped from Ridley Scott's next film.

3.Casey Affleck

In 2010, Casey Affleck was sued by two women who worked on his mockumentary with then brother-in-law Joaquin Phoenix. The women claimed Affleck had created and encouraged a hostile work environment, and had himself harassed them. Affleck settled the suits. In 2017, he won the Academy Award for Best Actor.

4.Woody Allen

The director was accused by his ex-girlfriend Mia Farrow for many years of sexually abusing her daughter when she was seven years old. Allen later married (and remains married to) Soon Yi Previn, Farrow’s adopted daughter, with whom he began a relationship when he was still seeing her mother.

5.James Toback

Over two hundred women have accused Toback of sexual harassment. The list includes Rachel McAdams, Selma Blair and Julianne Moore. Toback’s response to the allegations was that he was taking medication at the time and that it was impossible for him to have done the acts he was accused of.

Update: The number of accusers has now touched 300 women, with Ellen Pompeo, Caterina Scorsone, Natalie Morales, and singer Louise Post. The reporter who first published the article detailing allegations now says that a whopping 310 women have contacted him with allegations against Toback.

6.Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck responded to the Harvey Weinstein news saying he was saddened and angry. Then, actor Hilarie Burton accused him of groping her, adding to the voices of multiple women who alleged that the A-lister had assaulted them. Rose McGowan had tweeted at the actor stating that he was lying, when he responded to the Weinstein scandal.

7.Bryan Singer

The X-Men director was sued for the sexual assault of a minor in 2014. Earlier, in 1997, another lawsuit was filed stating that he had made a 14-year-old boy along with other minors film a nude shower scene.

8.Brett Ratner

Actors including Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge have accused Ratner of harassing them. In an interview early this year, Ratner also said that James Toback and Roman Polanski were amongst his closest friends.

Hours before he could be formally sentenced in the U.S., Roman Polanski fled to France, and has been living there since 1978. He was convicted of raping a minor, a 14-year-old girl, and giving her a controlled substance.

Update: Recently, a German woman came forward and accused Polanski of raping her when she was a teenager in his house in Switzerland, but Swiss police have stated that they are dropping the case as the statute of limitations has expired.

10.Dustin Hoffman

Anna Graham Hunter, a writer, has accused Hoffman of groping her and making inappropriate comments when she was 17 years old. Hoffman has since apologised and said he is sorry “if he put her in an uncomfortable position.”

11.Jeremy Piven

Actor Ariane Bellamar accused the Entourage actor of cornering her on the set and forcefully groping her. In a statement after, Piven said he “unequivocally denied the appalling allegations” made against him.

12.Bill Cosby

From 1965-2008, Bill Cosby has been accused by a number of women of rape, sexual assault, child sexual abuse and forced drug ingestion. The case went to trial in June this year and resulted in a mistrial. A new trial is scheduled to begin in April 2018.

13.Mike Tyson

The boxer and one-time actor was convicted of raping 18-year-old Desiree Washington. He was sentenced to six years in prison but was released after serving less than three years, but has had to register as a sex offender.

TV actor and model Carrie Stevens has accused the JFK director of groping her in a hallway. Incidentally, Stone’s response to the Weinstein scandal was to say: “I believe a man shouldn’t be condemned by a vigilante system. It’s not easy what he’s going through, either.”

15. Steven Seagal

The Good Wife star Julianna Margulies, actor Portia de Rossi, Jenny McCarthy and several others have accused Steven Seagal of harassing them. Margulies said that Seagal intimidated her with a gun when she was 23 years old, while de Rossi said that dirobed in front of her to see if they had 'chemistry.'

Actor Robert Knepper has been accused of sexual assault by costume designer Susan Bertram during the filming for a movie in 1992.

Ms. Bertram, who was 31 and a newcomer in Hollywood at the time of the incident, told The Hollywood Reporter that the alleged assault happened during the filming for Allison Anders directed Gas Food Lodging in Deming, New Mexico.

Five women detailed sexual misconduct allegations against Emmy-winning comedian Louis C.K. Two of the women, comedians Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov, said C.K. had invited them to his hotel room after a comedy festival in Aspen, Colorado, in 2002 and then masturbated in front of them. Another said C.K. masturbated in front of her, a second said he did so while on the phone with her and the third said she declined when he asked to masturbate in front of her.

Los Angeles police have said they are investigating a sexual assault case against Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick. Actor Kristina Cohen said Westwick raped her in 2014. Another woman, a former actor, Aurelie Wynn has also stated that he raped her in 2014.
