Swine flu toll rises in Nepal

February 26, 2015 10:22 pm | Updated 10:22 pm IST - KATHMANDU:

With four more cases of swine flu confirmed on Thursday, the number of people with the infection in Nepal rose to 17, reports said.

Blood samples sent from a hospital in Chitwan district for testing at the Epidemiology Division in Kathmandu tested positive for four people, said an official from Chitwan Public Health Office.

The National Public Health Laboratory had already confirmed 13 cases in February alone. Most of these cases have been found in people in the districts that share border with Indian States. Five of those who tested positive recently returned from India.

The medical officials in Kathmandu expressed concern with the discovery of swine flu infection in a 50-year-old woman living in Kathmandu, local reports said.
