Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran should take the permission of the Governor before leaving for New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sri Lanka’s Cabinet spokesperson said here on Thursday.

Responding to a query on media reports regarding Mr. Wigneswaran’s possible visit – which had come up in the Tamil National Alliance’s (TNA) recent meeting with the Prime Minister in New Delhi – Keheliya Rambukwella, who is also the Media and Information Minister, said the Chief Minister should ask the Governor of the Northern Province as he was the representative of the President.

The Minister outlined various Cabinet decisions, including a memorandum for a $100 million loan from China Development Bank Corporation to finance a road project in Sri Lanka.
