A major terror bid was foiled on Sunday when Pakistani security forces defused a roadside bomb targeting a religious procession in the restive Balochistan province.

Frontier Corps defused an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on a motorcycle parked on the road in Sibi city where a procession in connection with the Milad-un-Nabi was scheduled to pass. Four kg of explosives were strapped on the motorcycle, Dawn online reported .

“Major terror bid was foiled prior to the arrival of procession,” the daily quoted the sources as saying.

Airstrikes

Meanwhile, Pakistani airstrikes killed 31 militants and a suspected U.S. drone strike killed another ten, including a top Taliban commander, officials said on Sunday as local troops pressed a six-month offensive in tribal regions along the Afghan border that have long been insurgent havens.
