Sri Lanka Navy arrests 20 fishermen

The Sri Lankan Navy on Saturday arrested 20 Indian fishermen off Thalai Mannar.

Navy Spokesperson Commander Kosala Warnakulasooriya said the fishermen were caught on Saturday on charges of trespassing into Sri Lanka waters. The fishermen will be produced before the Thalaimannar Magistrate’s court on Monday for further legal action.

Last week, 65 fishermen from Tamil Nadu were arrested for engaging in allegedly illegal fishing activity.
