West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived here on Thursday night on her first visit to Bangladesh since becoming Chief Minister in 2011.

She is accompanied by two Ministers and eminent cultural, business and media personalities.

The visit has drawn widespread attention since it was Ms. Banerjee’s abrupt decision not to accompany former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that resulted in the failure to conclude the Teesta water-sharing treaty in September 2011.
