Police in Nepal said a Canadian tourist has been arrested on charges that he lured a 9-year-old boy to his hotel room and had sex with him.

Police official Pushpa Ranjit said on Saturday that the suspect was ordered detained by the Lalitpur District Court this week until the charges can be further investigated.

Police identified the suspect as Ernest Fenwich MacIntosh. Canadian news reports said he is from Nova Scotia and has 17 child sex offense convictions against him.
