Abdul Basit new Pakistan High Commissioner to India

Pakistan has appointed Abdul Basit as Pakistan's High Commissioner to India, according to a statement on Monday from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson.

Mr. Basit joined the Foreign Service in 1982 and has held various assignments in Pakistan Missions abroad and at the headquarters. Before his new appointment, he was the Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany since May 2012.

He will replace Salman Bashir in India.
