Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi on Friday urged Nepal’s lawmakers to ensure all the rights of children in the new Constitution.
Addressing members of the Committee for Women, Children, Senior Citizens and Social Welfare of Parliament, Mr. Satyarthi said the statute should ensure children’s right to education, health and nutrition.
Mr. Satyarthi is expected to participate in the Clean Bagmati River Campaign on Saturday. According to campaigner Raju Adhikari, Mr. Satyarthi would reach the cleaning site at the confluence of Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers at Teku in the capital.
The clean campaign takes place every Saturday, led by Nepal’s Chief Secretary Leela Mani Paudyal.
Earlier, Mr. Satyarthi expressed his excitement on reaching Nepal. “Excited to meet my sisters and brothers; daughters and sons in Nepal. Just arrived in the beautiful and sacred land of Buddha and Pashupatinath,” he tweeted on his arrival.
