Six suspected militants shot dead in Indonesia

Indonesian police said Wednesday they had killed six suspected Islamist militants during a raid near Jakarta.

Anti-terrorism officers were involved in a nine-hour shootout with the suspects in a house in the town of Tangerang Selatan that lasted until early Wednesday, said Indonesia’s chief of criminal investigations, Suhardi Alius.

“It’s all over,” Mr. Alius said. “Six suspects were killed and another was arrested.” The suspected militants were believed to have been involved in separate attacks that killed at least four police officers last year, national police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar said.
