‘Security breach not linked to SL unit dissolution’

The Sri Lankan Army on Saturday denied that the dissolution of the President’s Security Guard (PSG), which had been existence since 2008, was in response to a recent incident of breach of security of President Maithripala Sirisena. Asked whether the move to disband the Guard was due to the incident wherein an Army corporal was found with an unauthorised weapon in the vicinity of the President, attending a party meet at the Hambantota district on April 25, Brigadier K. J. Jayaweera said the decision was taken purely out of “internal administrative requirements.”
