The last recordings of sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar would be released in May. This would be the first posthumous release of his recordings.
East Meets West Music, the official recording label of the Ravi Shankar Foundation, said the three recordings are part of the seven done in October 2011. Four of them, released in 2012 as “The Living Room Sessions Part 1”, won him Grammy for “Best World Music Album” posthumously.
“It’s a real affirmation of Ravi’s lifetime of true artistic improvisation that built a bridge between Indian Classical music and the West, the whole history of which can be heard in his playing on the Living Room Sessions,” said Sukanya Shankar, his wife.
