Poland will expel four Russian diplomats as part of a wider European action to show unity with Britain over the poisoning of a former Russian spy in England that London has blamed on Moscow while Lithuania also said on Monday it would expel three Russian diplomats in response to the nerve agent attack.  Russia has denied involvement in the attack

Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs went a step further saying it would also ban a further 44 people from entering the country.

“By expelling persons who engaged in activities incompatible with their diplomatic status, the countries are expressing their solidarity with the United Kingdom and seeking to take action against Russia's spy networks in Europe,” the Ministry said in a statement.

Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz told a news conference that the diplomats were to leave the country by April 3.

Diplomatic costs notwithstanding

“Showing solidarity with Britain and other countries is the most important thing,” Mr. Czaputowicz said. “There are diplomatic costs to that but they are worth it.”

Several other countries have also expelled Russian diplomats.
