Polish officials say they have opened an investigation into whether illegal activity occurred when the Norway massacre suspect bought chemicals from a Polish supplier.
The Internal Security Agency said on Tuesday that prosecutors have opened an investigation into the “unauthorised possession and trade in dangerous substances,” a crime that can be punished with up to eight years in prison.
On Monday an official with the same agency said that Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian who has confessed to the attacks that killed at least 76 people, had bought chemical substances from an online vendor in Poland.
The Polish official, Pawel Bialek, stressed on Monday the substances were small in quantity and of marginal importance to Breivik’s bomb-making.
