Nepal Earthquake: Indian Army’s relief operations continue

The Indian Army’s relief operations continued in the earthquake-hit Nepal on Saturday, with its aviation wing evacuating victims and delivering relief material to inaccessible areas. Five advanced light helicopters are being employed for rescue efforts in Pokhara. The aviation unit conducted 12 sorties and evacuated 21 casualties apart from delivering 6.9 tonne of relief material to inaccessible areas on Friday.

The Army has also set up a field hospital at Lagenkhel where 119 patients have been treated so far, whereas another medical team at Barpak has attended to 129 victims. Medical teams have also been deployed at Gorkha and Senamangal. “The medical team treated 350 people on Friday,” said an official.

The Army’s engineering division has been helping locals repair houses, clear debris and open roads.
