Maldivian President Abdullah Yameen Gayoom on Wednesday arrived in Pakistan on a two-day visit during which he will hold talks with the country’s top leadership to promote bilateral ties.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and cabinet colleagues welcomed Gayoom on his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase in garrison city of Rawalpindi.

A 21-gun salute was given to him when he alighted from his aircraft.

Foreign Office said that during the visit, President Gayoom would meet his counterpart Mamnoon Hussian and Prime Minister Sharif.

Officials said that several agreements will be signed during the Maldivian leader’s visit.
