Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who condemned >the killing of an Italian national in Dhaka , said she suspected those who wanted to create ‘instability’ in Bangladesh to be behind the murder.
She expressed her “surprise” at the issuance of “alert” advisories by some Western missions in Dhaka. There is “no justification” of such alert, she told reporters in New York on Tuesday.
The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the murder of Cesare Tavella.
Without elaborating, the Prime Minister said there is “certainly a strong force behind the killing and they want to create a situation” in Bangladesh.
“As far as we know, a message from Chicago claimed that IS had done it. But we are yet to get any information that someone from Bangladesh claimed (responsibility for) the killing.”
The premier also saw “suspicious activities” of certain political quarters at home following the murder, which the police see was a planned one.
