Helicopter carrying 10 people missing in Indonesia

Officials say a helicopter carrying 10 people including four Australians has gone missing in eastern Indonesia.

Airport spokesman Lucky Pondaag says the Bell 412 aircraft lost contact with authorities several minutes after it took off at 4.26 p.m. (06-26 GMT) Wednesday from the North Sulawesi provincial capital of Manado.

Officials have had no contact with the crew since then.

Bitung district police chief Lt. Col. Vafafe Bayu told TVOne there were six Indonesians and four Australians on board. They apparently worked for a mining company in North Maluku.
