May 29, 2011 11:29 pm | Updated November 17, 2021 03:27 am IST - CHICAGO:

Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani had attended the funeral of the Mumbai attacks accused David Headley's father in December 2010.

This was disclosed on Thursday by Headley at a Chicago court at the trial of Tahawwur Rana, his co-accused in the case. He said Mr. Gilani had attended the funeral of his father Syed Saleem Gilani, who was the former Director-General of Radio Pakistan and worked for the Pakistani embassy in Washington DC.

Denial

A spokesman for the Prime Minister's office said: “The Prime Minister never attended the funeral and only visited Danyal Gilani's [Headley's half-brother] house to condole the death.” He also denied that Danyal Gilani works as a PRO in the Prime Minister's office.
