Six suspected terrorists were killed in a drone attack in the Shawal valley of North Waziristan on Saturday afternoon at a time when the tribal agency bordering Afghanistan was celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr. Security officials said one round of the missiles targeted a vehicle and another set a house.
The target of Saturday’s drone attacks was unclear and neither was there any information on whether the terrorists were locals or foreigners. Drones visited Pakistan after a three-week gap; the last attack being on July 23. Pakistan officially protested the attack. In a statement, the Foreign office said “Pakistan has consistently maintained that these attacks are a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and are in contravention of international law”.
