China on Monday said it was “shocked” by NATO attack in Pakistan, expressing its “strong concerns” and calling for an investigation.
Voicing support to Islamabad over the attack, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said countries should respect the “sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan”. After the Abbottabad raid, which led many countries to question Pakistan on its failure to crack down on terror, China was a rare source of support for an embattled Pakistani leadership.

“China believes the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan should be respected in real earnest,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei on Monday. He said the incidents should be investigated and “handled appropriately in a serious manner”.
“China expresses its shock at the above incident,” he added, “and expresses strong concerns over this…and deep condolences to the victims of Pakistan.”
