Trump meets Macron

U.S President Donald Trump meet with France’s President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, before celebrations for the centenary of the end of World War I.

The two men briefly shook hands and ignored shouted questions about Trump’s criticism of his French host he delivered as he landed in Paris the night before.

The Madhya Pradhesh Congress on Saturday released its 'Vachan Patra' or manifesto for the upcoming 2018 Assembly elections.

Stepping up vigil for dengue, the Tami l Nadu government's Health Department is on high alert after cases of dengue and H1N1 were reported in the neighbouring States. The government has been organising awareness camps across the state on the prevention of the disease.

Senior officials have directed government offices and hospitals to maintain cleanliness and clear scrap materials from their premises to prevent breeding of Aedes mosquitoes.

Protests by the BJP and right-wing outfits coupled with the absence of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and his deputy marked the ‘Tipu Jayanthi’ celebrations in Karnataka Saturday.

Tipu Jayanthi is celebrated to observe the birth anniversary of controversial 18th-century ruler of the erstwhile Mysore kingdom, Tipu Sultan.

BJP and several right-wing organisations held protests in different parts of the state opposing the celebrations. Calling Tipu a “religious bigot”, the state BJP unit had urged the state government to drop its decision to celebrate the Jayanthi.

Wildfires raged on Friday across California, where five people died in their cars while trying to escape flames engulfing a mountain town, and residents were forced to flee the upscale beach community of Malibu in the face of a monster firestorm.

On November 11, 1918, at 11 minutes and 11 seconds, a peace agreement was signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Armistice of Compiegne in France, thus officially putting an end to the War.

Since then the day is observed as Armistice Day in many allied nations across the globe and war heroes were remembered.
